NYCA Consultant Handoff

Edit on GitHub

The open question of who runs consultant-style discovery calls (FSE, Aurora, CNYC, board members) — Marc solo, vs riding shotgun with NYCA case managers / consultant partners.

Jon's pushback on Marc taking the consultant role — Feb 18 – Feb 23, 2026

Marc (CRO) — 2026-02-18 07:54 Thanks Robin!

Jon (Customer Success Lead) — 2026-02-19 07:12 @Marc (CRO) thanks for sharing all of this. I'm catching up on your consolidated takeaways and listening to my second board member discussion recording. Your rule-based ideas make a lot of sense, but I would personally need some more discussion to see how they translate specifically into product tweaks or redesign. I also have some questions about the roll out strategy. It seems like you are essentially developing/practicing an energy management/advisor service that goes along with the software. I'm skeptical that the need for that human hand-holding will disappear even if the software did all the things you imagine. I still think the software is critical, so don't we want other market players to start building their services using Momentum - not just you?

The fact that in one video she asks late in the call "does your firm to the same thing as Bright Power" and then asks if she can engage your firm, shows how much you've stepped into the consultant role. I would wager you are possibly the best in the city at having these types of conversations. So I can't help but imagine is that when you have these calls, you should be doing them with another consultant, or a NYCA case manager riding shotgun. This has the benefit of introducing the building to someone who wants to continue being their advisor, and also training others in the city on how to use Momentum as part of their service.

I'm going to invite you to catch up on this and also see how these great lessons may apply to NYCA.

Marc (CRO) — 2026-02-23 13:40 we should chat more. We are kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place.... the service provider consultants don't want to push Momentum and Momentum can't push itself. I will fork follow on thoughts from last week in a new thread.

Marc (CRO) — 2026-02-02 18:28 I am done waiting and just want to prime the pump myself to get this shit going. @Bomee (CEO / Coder) I hear you about the make-or-break, but this is very exciting!

Marc (CRO) — 2026-02-02 18:29 to confirm... I am invigorated by the challenge...

Marc (CRO) — 2026-02-02 18:33 oh and semi relatedly.... I have now been on 3 pretty big pipeline building calls (First Service, Aurora, CNYC) and it is beyond me to articulate the value add of NYCA. Other than "it is just like the old program except it has Momentum". Plus Marc offering to roll up his sleeves.

I know NYCA needs to develop @Jon (Customer Success Lead) but just flagging that I will just be out there making shit happen myself until it is clear to me where the hand offs make sense

Jason (Product/BuildSci) — 2026-02-02 21:40 Looking forward to discussing more tomorrow. I think some of the links are wrong though. Two of those links go to Q1 2026 update of the GTM plan. I don't see a link that takes me to the CNYC google form top concerns or the tracking sheet. Can you check those?

Jason (Product/BuildSci) — 2026-02-02 21:45 I think I found the CNYC top concerns list here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1g1iPkY9Ruc-msWvuOHP8k0oVQHTXEjgm4oAPh4NCcyc/edit?usp=sharing

Marc (CRO) — 2026-02-02 22:26 thanks Jason. I fixed the links.

Jon (Customer Success Lead) — 2026-02-03 10:33 Looking forward to this discussion @Marc (CRO) ! I think it's fantastic the way you are out there and don't think there's any reason to wait - or necessarily to hand off to NYCA. My only thought is that since we are a part of NYCA and Momentum is part of NYCA, there should be a way to get "credit" for your pipeline development in a way that demonstrates our value and Momentum's value to NYCA. I don't yet know how this will be counted for NYCA but just want to keep an eye on it.

CNYC Here are the results of the google form including feedback on co-op board attendee "top concerns": https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1g1iPkY9Ruc-msWvuOHP8k0oVQHTXEjgm4oAPh4NCcyc/edit?usp=sharing Here is my tracking sheet which I will obviously port over to Momentum as soon as we can support: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1hicyBLd1-WJH8-FxnYRgqhKqMB-HfwBwf7QRc11lYJI/edit?usp=sharing And here is the follow up email templates I sent to the attendees who provided their email addresses to receive a Momentum scope: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1BuvxTi6tdnpw5x27n8nUdIXkvX_Efs65jPXgaQOYGWg/edit?usp=sharing (best example of how active of a role I am playing -- note there are 4 tabs for 4 different scenarios per the spreadsheet)

Also, in a couple of cases, where I got good data on buildings or their decision makers, I stuck in the "Notes" field in Momentum (glad that is back!)

Jon (Customer Success Lead) — 2026-02-03 11:33 I love the follow up email templates - I think they should be adapted by KC3 and other NYCA case managers to use in their interactions with buiding owners

Marc (CRO) — 2026-02-03 11:48 ok. Completly relying on you to cross pollinate (both ways) between NYCA and what I am focused on!

Marc (CRO) — 2026-02-03 11:51 @Jason (Product/BuildSci) and I just discussed this one pager that distills a lot of product asks that ladder up to these business goals and also briefly addresses relationships to the AI projects we have going on https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ryqVdXCwvGZYMSYcx1kYb0Ogdm-egtR07UNKEYxml_k/edit?usp=sharing
